Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. March 31, April 1, 2022

We arrive at 8 am though we are up around 7:30.  The same heat and pollution greeted us here as it did in Jeddah.  We opted not to subject ourselves to this heat and bad air, and are enjoying a relaxing day on ship.    However, we will venture out tomorrow as we are here for two days.  At which time I will write a further update.

I would also like to remind my readers, if you want a different perspective of our ports of calls to read my co-travelers blog at:   whereintheworldismargit.blogspot.com. I think you will enjoy her reporting and impressions.

I have also gone back to the Jeddah blog for a few minor corrections.

In the meantime I share just a few pictures.

View of the port and city in the background of Yanbu

View of the port as seen from our balcony.  How nice to be Welcomed!!

These two gentlemen are Saudi Arabian officials that are inspection our ship and checking to see that we are complying with the NO ALCOHOL in view and being served.  Yes for 4 days we can not be served alcohol at any of our various bar and restaurant venues.  You are not allowed to bring your own, nor can you consume it on your balcony.  However what you do in the privacy of your own room is up to you.  So one could order ahead of time some spirits.  The fellow in the middle is Milan, our onboard jeweler.

Here as we were returning from dinner, we (the Travelers) were greeted by Milan the jeweler and Enrico, our in-house musician and very talented piano player.  He truly knows how to play the piano,  he doesn’t just play the piano, he plays and feels the music, an exceptional treat.

  1. Hi Joanne, thank you so much for your commentary and photos. This is a part of the world I won't ever see in person so I am really appreciating traveling vicariously with you and Margit and getting a personal perspective!
